ABOUT

Cedar Park Mindfulness Counseling is a private practice providing therapy for individual adults and with a specialized focus in addressing issues of anxiety, panic attacks, and stress.

If you have tried counseling before but with mixed benefits, mindfulness-based counseling may be a helpful new take on therapy. The benefits of mindfulness practice are backed by science. Research has established that over time mindfulness practice leads to visible changes in the brain. Simply put, different areas of the brain can communicate with each other better. As you work on new coping techniques to relieve symptoms of anxiety or panic, over time the brain will be changing too, and lasting progress can be achieved.

Texas Counseling License #71340

Micah has been practicing therapy for 8 years, gathering experience and training in a wide array of settings, and applying mindfulness in each context. Micah has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Texas State University, as well as a Masters degree in Counseling from St. Edwards University.

Micah first began counseling as a Career Counselor at Texas State University in 2012. There he helped individuals navigate life direction choices and taught relaxation skills to help clients take action.

Micah spent the next 4 years working at non-profits providing sliding-scale community counseling, and in many cases working with individuals suffering from severe mental health symptoms. Helping those in need and without resources in the community was a great space to connect with the value of providing service, while also honing therapeutic skills to be able to address a wide array of issues.

Micah moved to a private therapy group in 2017 and at this time specialized in mindfulness-based counseling. In this setting he focused on helping those struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, and high stress. In 2019 he founded Cedar Park Mindfulness Counseling, an independent practice, serving Cedar Park and the surrounding areas.

Micah, his wife, and their newborn son live in Cedar Park. The family have two energetic dogs; a black lab named Monty, and a labradoodle named Margot. The family enjoys gardening, adventures in pickling, preserves, and BBQ, and getting outdoors for camping and hiking.
